Problem

As part of the EU-funded Horizon 2020 project, Laing O’Rourke required a real-time software platform to be integrated into their smart factory in order to visualize live and historic power consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Solution

The Cirrus Flex software platform deployed at each factory to perform local site integration and optimization; each factory was integrated with a private cloud instance of Cirrus Flex for aggregated demand side response enablement.

Result

Laing O’Rourke obtained complete visibility of energy consumption across sites including carbon impacts, they identified energy efficiency opportunities, enabled their factories to participate in demand response markets and demonstrate the control mechanisms required to implement DER additions at current sites within connection agreements.
