Problem

San Diego Gas and Electric was investigating different architectures to support their grid modernization plans and sought to investigate the implementation of a Distributed Control Architecture supported by the emerging standard, OpenFMB.

Solution

Strata Grid was chosen through competitive solicitation due to its architectural flexibility to demonstrate the use of OpenFMB. Multiple interacting instances of Strata grid using OpenFMB were used to demonstrate the proposed architecture for DER monitoring and control.

Result

Successfully demonstrated the use of OpenFMB as an open standard and cybersecure method for distributed and grid edge control.
